Amr,

Today your sketch model created a conversation that asked your building to interact with Copley Sq. grid with building rotation. Your response on the focus of space planning with the hierarchy of colors and price. This system of valuing was seen as not strong enough architecturally. The question was raised if your building could create a dialog with the church and library. You need to consider the division of the building striation (planar elements). Slope your building up towards the CVS? A nod to the sloping up rooftops along Boylston.
Create a visual force to pull the people into the store. Have intentional gestures with your building forms. "Are Americans too gentle? Do we politely tread upon our landscapes careful not to cause a stir?" URBAN IS NOT POLITE. Urban is the fight for the sidewalk right of way...

good night and good luck fellow traveler.

URBAN IS NOT POLITE!!!!
urban is fight?!!!
IF URBAN IS FIGHT ,then the victim would be the users of the Urban Fabric Buildings!

In my Apple store, the "NEW BORN in the heritage site"
I am addressing a building that react with the surrounding heritage of the copley square, in various conversations,

When it comes to the historic Church my building decend respectfully to the much older and valuable neighbor!

and stands up! when it comes to the main axis of Boylston street and what is behind it of major flood source of visitors "potential clients"
to my Babyborn apple!

please check The visual aspects studies i did and you would appreciate the above Idea.

what is the goal of the Urban Design?????

My Job is to creat a place to bring people together! rewarding them the outmost experience of the infinity Knowledge that is built on Merit.

I agree with you that the price evaluation of each exhibit is not strong architecturally, and i regret it.

No way is better than asking people to come in polite statment that starts with "please come"
rather than ......

I enjoyed your geniune Critic, and have a wonderful day.

Amr,

Your presentation this day brought out some key aspects of your project. You referenced the infinity loop, looping of retail service to customer to retail and again...
Your four levels and color coded commercial levels was an idea you want to realize in your design solution.
You mentioned the history, the presence of the location, visual connections to be important. Void vs. the solid, the city grid.
It was suggested for you to use the city grid circulation to attract the public to your store. Those who are visitors can be hoped to convert into customers.
You had made a great point; the Apple products are decreasing in size, small to smaller and where is the end?
Your analysis is appreciated by all, however you need to start to put that analysis into your design as a solution. The focus may be in the idea of inside & outside. Sections may be helpful in your design process. On your first model, the facade is the strongest element. The slit which forms the doorway. The levels may not have logic.
* Why take retail logic and turn it upside down? or Have an upper level cash wrap for a more memorable experience or an express check out first.
Your conceptual continuity of the project is appreciated. 10' grid to make it simple
or
take model of cards and carve volumes from it.

Sam Mockbee and the rural studio in Alabama. "The Lucy House" composed of stacked carpets.
Work on sections in order to find the spaces b/tween the stacks.
Your strengths in the design is the facade, stack, slope.
The color is important because it shows the density of the layering.

Final Review comments from Intensive week

• Theoretical management – you have a lot of concepts, you need to prioritize one and make it the one you respond to.
• External is lovely architecture beautiful – working brilliantly
• Time concept is great – rid of escalator, which is only 1 way to look at it.
o Maybe volume
o Architecture has a sense of time already (i.e. window office vs. windowless office)
o More to time than height
 Different kinds of volume – what do you see, how do you feel in the spaces?
• Underhill – you will need to rely on his book in this project and incorporate his concepts into your building.
• You have covered the intellectual portion, now you need to get into the architecture further.
• This is the best example of branding in architecture they have seen.
• Current architecture has a brain and not a heart.
