I noticed that the colored bards that indicate your steps vary in size. Is this how you will be demonstrating time into your mapping diagram? I am still working on the aspects of incorporating the time component into my mapping. I plan on utilizing a motherboard as the base of my diagram so I will be doing additional research on that in order to identify time.

RE: Jaclyn

Yes these Color brands Combined, represent a time line Map .
But there is NO unit to measure time here. Its all relatively presented.
NO days or hours but the expected proportions of time scale.
Each step scale compared to another step, as much as I could so far.

I think We cannot demonstrate Time by hours / days here. As each step could have a very flexible
period of time depending on product complexity, Geography and Customer's behaviors.
I think all what we could do is to relate each step scale to the other one.

Thank you for your comment back about the time. I started thinking this afternoon after reading your comment. I've been working all night on the start of my "final" map and as I was working I think I came up with an idea to represent the time component. I am thinking of using a "computer chip" filled with pixels. The amount of pixels in each panel will represent time compared to the other steps. Thank you again and good luck on your final map, I look forward to seeing how you expand on your draft.

Amr,

I like the color pattern to signify the process. Kind of like the old Macintosh logo. I've been contemplating the process of time and how shipping can be very different based on product and necessity. If you've seen my diagram, I'm thinking about making three different sized squares inside one another to represent standard ground, 2 day, and overnight. Maybe something similar could work in your color graphic to divide the lines not only vertically, but horizontally also? Nice work and I look forward to your next draft.

Matt - It is interesting that you mentioned the old logo. I was going to post to Amr that I had created a collage and was going to utilize the color band from the macintosh on my diagram to also depict time similar to how he had done it but not exactly. I didn't want him to take offense to it. I will post it so you two are able to see it this afternoon. My idea started with making the diagram inside the new logo and then using bars of time to compare the steps. However, after I got done with all the graphics in the logo I felt I needed something to easily depict the seperate bars and the overlapping. I went online to search the logo somemore and came across the old logo with the colorbands. There were 6 bands which conincided with my 6 steps so I thought this might be an interesting way to portray it. The time is still represented by the bars, the color is just added to help depict the different bars and to demonstrate where they overlap in a more defined manner. Let me know what you think.
